What do I need to do to prepare for an in-home massage?

The best part of an in-home massage is that you really don’t have to do much at all. I will bring everything I need, but in preparation of my visit, please ensure you have adequate space for me to set up my massage table and be able to move around the table freely. If you have a small stool or chair, that would be useful as well!

Do I need to wear a mask?

No- Masks are no longer mandatory, but are completely optional. if you would prefer me to mask during your treatment or service, i am happy to do so.

if you are currently experiencing any flu or cold symptoms, i kindly ask that you reschedule your appointment!

Can I view your schedule / book online?

No- the reasoning for this is because as a part time mobile care provider, I have to account for the additional time it takes to travel from home to home, set-up / take-down and disinfecting protocols, and locations of clients. Although booking through myself is not as immediate, it allows me to have the control that is necessary to be as efficient as possible with my time so I can see as many of you as I can, as soon as I can.

How does payment work?

I accept the following forms of payment: e-transfer, credit, cheque, or cash (please ensure you have the correct amount of cash as I cannot provide change because I do not carry extra cash for insurance reasons).

Pets?

I absolutely LOVE animals, and have no known allergies to pets. I am always happy to see your furry family members and welcome them to hang out while we work. However, if your four legged friends are not so great with strangers, bark or whine when you are busy, or like to jump on tables, it may be best to find alternate arrangements for your pet(s) during your treatment time. If any pets become aggressive while I am in your home, I reserve the right to remove myself immediately from potentially dangerous situations.

If you or anyone in your family have allergies to pets or animal dander, please be sure to inform me before your appointment time.

What if I don’t have a safe / quiet space in my home, but I still want a massage?

So many people love the idea of in-home massage, but it isn’t always practical for some lifestyles. If this is the case for you, let me know during your booking inquiry and we can try to arrange an alternate location. Examples of alternate locations are: a friend or family member’s home, outdoors (weather + season permitting).

I’ve never received massage therapy before; what can I expect?

Every treatment is different, but as a general guideline, here’s the structure of a typical treatment!

- meet + discuss your overall goals, go over the intake form, COVID-19 screening

- physical assessment and / or testing if necessary

- hands on work: your answers to the above information will help me form a treatment best suited for you towards your goals, so this part usually looks different for everyone!

- after the massage, I will normally go over homecare and / or remedial exercises for you to work into your daily routine as additions to help you get closer to your goals

What are you doing for covid protocols?

I am currently screening all clients before appointments for COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone screening positive will be asked to rebook their appointment when they are symptom free.

I thoroughly disinfect my table and all equipment used before and after each household with medical-approved disinfectant.

I thoroughly wash my hands and use hand sanitizer before and after each client.

I am able to mask during your treatment if requested.

I have received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine; I will ask to reschedule your appointment if I am experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19 and will not come into your home if I am feeling ill. I screen myself daily and test myself when symptomatic.

Do you do direct billing with insurance companies?

I currently do not. I do provide you with a receipt with all of the information you will need to submit to your insurance company if this applies to you.

Will I get a receipt?

Yes- I email all receipts to the email address I was provided with upon booking. If you do not have an email address and still wish for a receipt, I can provide you with a paper copy*.

*This is only done when requested.

How frequently should I get massages?

This varies on so many factors, but generally, I advise:

  • For non-specific maintenance massage (no specific injuries or concerns to focus on, usually just to control general body tension and stress): approx one month between appointments

  • For specific, sub-acute injuries (doctor approved physio / massage for sprain/strain/frac/etc): approx once to twice a week

  • For chronic, recurring pain: approx once every one to two weeks, depending on level of discomfort and how quickly it returns after treatment.

*This is simply a rough estimate and rebooking is best assessed on an individual basis.*
